Ashley Brooke Jeffers, 35, Terre Haute, was arrested by Officer Janzen Franklin of the Linton Police Department late Sunday afternoon, June 13.

Officer Franklin was dispatched to Humphreys Park in Linton around 4:10 p.m. on Sunday, June 13, after LPD got a report of an unruly woman in the park, later identified as Ashley Jeffers.

When Officer Franklin found her and tried to talk to her, Jeffers gave the officer a clear impression that she might try to harm herself so he attempted to take her into custody for an immediate detention. But Jeffers was not cooperative, tried to pull away and started kicking Officer Franklin in the shins.

With assistance from LPD Officers Alan Jackson and Orry Phipps, Jeffers was cuffed and placed in a patrol vehicle on the back passenger side. When she scooted over to the side behind the driver’s seat and Officer Franklin wanted her to scoot back to the passenger side, he bent down into the vehicle and Jeffers allegedly kicked him in the face.

Jeffers was transported to Greene County General Hospital for an evaluation then after she was cleared, transported to the Greene County Jail where she was booked in at 5:54 p.m.

Officer Franklin was experiencing bleeding and pain to his nose and after booking, he returned to the hospital where a doctor confirmed his nose was broken and advised him to see a specialist for further evaluation.

Bond was set for Jeffers at $11,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed but she has not yet posted bond and as of late Monday, June 21, she was still in custody at the county jail.

She has been charged with battery with bodily injury to a law enforcement officer, a Level 5 felony.
