LPD arrests two during traffic stop
/A traffic stop checking the eligibility of the driver’s license resulted in the arrest of the driver and passenger in the early morning hours of Aug. 9.
Jordan Scott Enochs, 34, Linton, was arrested on preliminary charges of resisting law enforcement with the use of a vehicle, driving while suspended when the suspension is the result of a prior conviction, and possession of marijuana while Tracy Joe Reagan, 50, Linton, was arrested on a preliminary charge of possession of methamphetamine.
While patrolling, Linton Police Department Officer Cayden Walker observed a white Ford Crown Vic turning northbound onto 8th St Northeast from State Road 54. He knew the driver of the car to be Enochs due to the department having multiple interactions with him. Walker called in Enochs’s license plate and found his driver’s license has been suspended with a re-eligibility date of Aug. 2, 2025.
Walker activated his emergency lights at the intersection of 8th Street Northeast and C Street Northeast. The vehicle continued traveling northbound on 8th Street Northeast and activated his emergency siren. The vehicle continued traveling north while Walker’s lights and sirens were activated. The vehicle came to a complete stop at a stop sign located at 8th Street Northeast and E Street Northeast then continued north before coming to stop at F Street Northeast.
While speaking with Enochs, officer Janzen Franklin spoke with Reagan, the passenger of the vehicle. A check of Reagan’s identification showed her to be a habitual traffic violator. Reagan was advised she was free to leave the scene. She asked if she could get a backpack from the car to which officers agreed after it was checked for weapons due to officer safety.
A check of the backpack returned an orange medication container without a label containing a white crystal substance. The substance field tested positive for methamphetamine.
During a search of the vehicle, a white hand rolled cigarette containing a green plant-like material was found instead a cigarette package.
Enochs has been charged with:
Resisting law enforcement with the use of a vehicle, a Level 6 Felony
Driving while suspended when the suspension is the result of a prior conviction, a Class A Misdemeanor
Possession of Marijuana, a Class B Marijuana
Reagan was charged with possession of marijuana, a Level 6 Felony. She was held without bond until an initial court appearance on Aug. 11. At that time, a bond of $4,000 surety with 10 percent allowed was approved.
