LPD arrested suspicious man on Sunday
A 39-year-old Washington man was arrested on various preliminary drug charges following a call to the Linton Police Department from Wal-Mart.
Linton Police Department Officer Cayden Walker was dispatched to Wal-Mart in reference to a subject, later identified as Dustin Levi Brashier of Washington, parked in the fire line but inside the store. The caller reported the driver was inside the store and was “on something”.
Lieutenant Bobby Pierce of the Linton Police Department was the first to arrive on scene and located a Hyundai with Florida registration parked in the fire lane. Upon Walker’s arrival, Pierce was talking with Brashier beside the vehicle. Pierce contacted Linton Dispatch and was informed Brashier had a suspended prior status on his driving privileges and the vehicle would need to be towed as a valid driver was not present.
Brashier asked Pierce if he could get the items just purchased in the store out of his car. Pierce told Brashier he would get the items for him.
While Lt. Pierce was getting the Walmart bags out of the backseat, Walker observed Brashier place his hands into his pockets. Lt. Pierce advised Walker it was not the first time he had been advised to keep his hands out of his pocket. When asked if he had anything on him he shouldn’t, Brashier said no. He consented to a search of his person.
During the search, Walker located a silver socket with burnt plant material in the end which was believed to be marijuana. Brashier told Walker there was nothing else on him; however, while continuing his search, Walker located a clear plastic baggie containing a crystal-like substance in his right front watch pocket. The substance field tested positive for methamphetamine.
Brashier was advised by Lt. Pierce that he was going to conduct a vehicle inventory since the vehicle was being towed.
While conducting a vehicle inventory, Lt. Pierce located a hypodermic syringe in the center console along with a black digital scale, a clear plastic baggie containing green plant-like material, and two clear baggies containing white crystal-like substance. Lt. Pierce also located a clear baggie containing white crystal-like substance under the driver’s seat of the vehicle.
Brashier was transported to Greene County Jail where he will be held without bond until his initial court appearance Sept. 27. At that time, he will be formally charged with:
Possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 Felony
Unlawful possession of a syringe, a Level 6 Felony
Possession of marijuana, a Class B Misdemeanor
Possession of paraphernalia, a Class C Misdemeanor
