When LPD officers launched an investigation into possible drug dealing out of a suspect’s home in Linton, a Linton woman who was at the home was arrested on a misdemeanor charge. She bonded out of jail the same day, but three days later she was back in jail after crashing her vehicle into a tree then leaving the scene on foot. After GCSD deputies found her in Bloomfield covered in mud and scratches from walking in the woods, she was arrested again.

When Detective Logan Hobbs and Officer Davis Aerne, both of the Linton Police Department, showed up at the door of Hammer Parker on a tip that he was dealing drugs out of his home in Linton, Parker was not home but Emily Bennett opened the door and said Parker was at work. After detecting the odor of marijuana coming from the residence then finding evidence of illegal substances during a safety sweep of the home followed by the execution of a search warrant, Bennett was detained then transported to the Linton Police Department.

Detective Hobbs said that before they left the home, Bennett asked him to get her car key and cell phone from the living room. He said her car key had a key to the residence attached to it and they were located on the coffee table in the living room where a quantity of marijuana was found. Her cell phone was plugged into an outlet and was laying on the armrest of the couch directly in front of the coffee table.

Bennett was arrested and booked into the Greene County Jail at 2:07 p.m. on March 18. Her bond was set at $500 surety with 10% cash allowed. She posted $50 and was released later the same day.

Her initial hearing was scheduled to take place at 8:30 a.m. on March 31. But before that date arrived, she had been arrested again and was back in jail.

On Monday, March 21, around 8:24 a.m., Greene County Sheriff's Deputies Anthony Nelson and Harvey Holt were dispatched to a crash on South Mineral-Koleen Road in the Bloomfield area where a vehicle had hit a tree and a fence.

When they arrived on the scene, they found a blue 2017 Hyundai Elantra through a fence with a damaged pear tree nearby. The vehicle was registered to Bennett and they found a cell phone and a T-shirt near the driver's door but nobody was around.

While the deputies were investigating on the scene, Deputy Terry Wade found Bennett in Bloomfield approximately two miles northwest of the accident scene. She was transported back to the scene.

Deputy Nelson, the lead investigator, said Bennett was soaking wet, covered in mud and covered in scratch marks from walking in the woods.

Bennett was detained and taken to the sheriff's department where driving records showed her license was suspended.

Bennett allegedly admitted she was the driver of the vehicle during the crash and admitted she was speeding. She said she didn't know what road she was on at the time of the crash and she didn't know her license was suspended. She said she didn't leave any contact information as required by law with the property owner when she left on foot and she also identified the shirt and the phone were hers.

Bennett was booked into the Greene County Jail again at 9:58 a.m. on March 21. Her bond was set at $1500 surety with 10% cash allowed. She posted bond and was given a court date for another initial hearing in Greene Superior Court on March 31 at 8:30 a.m. - same time as her other hearing. She was a no-show and two warrants were issued for her arrest – one in each case.
