A Linton driver went to jail last weekend after she failed to properly signal a turn, was stopped, and a K9 alerted to the presence of a controlled substance inside her van.

Chelsea B. Duboise, 37, Linton, was arrested by Officer Janzen Franklin of the Linton Police Department early last Saturday, June 12.

Duboise was identified as the driver of a red 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan that was stopped by Officer Franklin around 1:38 a.m. last Saturday for failure to signal a turn at the stop sign on C Street SE at State Road 59 in Linton.

LPD Officer Joe Riley arrived to assist on the scene, along with his K9 partner Kona and during a sniff around the vehicle, Kona alerted to the presence of a controlled substance inside the vehicle.

Officer Franklin reported that during a search by Officer Riley, a purse was found to contain a yellow M&M container with a small pink baggie inside that contained a white crystal substance and another clear baggie with a white crystal substance that field-tested positive as methamphetamine.

Duboise refused to speak to officers then was transported to the Greene County Jail.

A male passenger in the vehicle was released from the scene.

When Duboise was booked in at 2:28 a.m., jail officers reported she was in possession of a hypodermic needle/syringe. She was held without bond pending court appearance.

On Tuesday, June 15, Duboise appeared in Greene Superior Court for an initial hearing via two-way video connection between the jail and the courtroom.

Duboise has been charged with possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony, and unlawful possession of syringe, a Level 6 felony.

Her bond was set at $8,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed but as of late Thursday afternoon, she had not yet posted bond and was still in custody at the Greene County Jail.
