Linton man scheduled to appear in court on charges of possession of meth, driving while suspended
A 44-year-old Linton man is scheduled to appear in Greene Superior Court on Sept. 5 following an Aug. 17 arrest for possession of methamphetamine and driving while suspended.
Travis Scott Hale was arrested Aug. 17 by Linton Police Department Officer Janzen Franklin after Franklin observed him driving near the intersection of State Road 54 and 4th Street Northeast in Linton. According to a probable cause affidavit written by Franklin, he performed a Bureau of Motor Vehicles search which showed Hale’s driver’s license was suspended.
A traffic stop was conducted near the intersection of 5th Street Northwest and B Street. During an inventory of Hale’s vehicle, according to the probable cause, a black case containing a white substance was located. The substance field tested positive for methamphetamine.
According to the probable cause, Hale said he bought the case at Goodwill approximately a month prior. He alleged he didn’t put drugs in it, telling Officer Franklin the drugs could have been in the case when he purchased it.
Upon further review of Hale’s driving record, according to the probable cause affidavit, Franklin discovered Hale had been convicted of driving while suspended in December 2019.
Hale was transported to the Greene County Jail where he was initially held without bond.
He is scheduled to appear in Greene Superior Court for an initial hearing Sept. 5.
