When an 18-year-old on house arrest got involved in a dispute and police were called, he was arrested. Police said he’d been drinking alcohol and was in possession of methamphetamine.

Jonah Andreas Wittgren, 18, Linton, was arrested by Officer Adam King of the Linton Police Department following an incident late last night, Monday, January 11. Wittgren was booked into the Greene County Jail at 12:38 a.m. Tuesday, January 12.

Officer Riley was dispatched to the Allen Motel in Linton around 11:38 p.m. Monday after a caller reported a dispute. Wittgren, who was said to be working for the motel, had gotten into a disagreement with a guest over payment for a motel room. Wittgren allegedly started throwing the guest’s belongings out of the room and the guest called a family member. The family member called police.

Besides Officer Riley and LPD Officer Adam King, Officer Johnson from the Greene County Probation Department also responded to the scene because Wittgren was on probation and on house arrest and Officer Johnson got an alert that was sent from Wittgren’s ankle monitor.

Officer Riley reported that when the officers talked to Wittgren, he admitted he had been drinking alcohol and a portable breath test showed he had a BAC of .137. He also admitted he had drug paraphernalia in his room.

With the authority of the probation officer, a search was conducted of Wittgren’s room and Officer Riley reported they found a smoking device in Wittgren’s room that contained a white crystal-substance that field-tested positive as methamphetamine.

Wittgren was taken into custody and transported. He was being held without bond pending court appearance so he’s still in jail. When he appears in Greene Superior Court for an initial hearing, he’ll be facing charges of:

• Possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony,

• Possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor, and

• Minor in possession of alcohol, a Class C misdemeanor.
