A Linton man involved in a one-vehicle crash in August is accused of operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Charges were filed this week after the lab returned the results from his blood test.

Jacob Preston Baysinger, 22, Linton, was arrested on Wednesday, October 23, following an investigation by Officer Kyle Robison of the Linton Police Department.

Officer Robison was dispatched around 7:19 a.m. back on Sunday, August 4, to a crash involving a single vehicle that occurred in an area on 11th Street NE in Linton.

When he arrived, he found a black 2011 Subaru passenger car, still running and in gear. The car had crashed into landscaping.

Officer Robison said he had to strike the driver’s window several times to wake the driver up. Baysinger was identified as the driver. There were no passengers and Baysinger was not reported as injured.

Officer Robison reported Baysinger exhibited signs of intoxication. LPD Officer John Agan, who responded to assist on the scene, conducted field sobriety tests and said Baysinger failed. A portable breath test was given but the attempts showed the samples were insufficient. So Baysinger was transported to Greene County General Hospital for testing.

Blood samples were obtained at the hospital and with results pending, Baysinger was given a courtesy ride to his residence.

Officer Robison reported than when the blood tests were returned from the Indiana Department of Toxicology, the report showed Baysinger’s blood alcohol concentration was .154, plus or minus .011.

Robison noted Baysinger’s record includes a previous conviction in 2017 for operating a vehicle while intoxicated with endangerment.

With test results received, a criminal case was filed against Baysinger on Tuesday, October 22, and a warrant was issued for his arrest. He was booked in the next day. His bond was set at $8,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. He posted $800 and was released the same day.

Baysinger is scheduled to appear in Greene Superior Court on Monday, November 4, to face preliminary charges of:

Operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, a Class A misdemeanor,
Operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, a Level 6 felony,
Operating a vehicle with an alcohol concentration equivalent to at least .08 but less than .15, a Class C misdemeanor,
Operating a vehicle with an alcohol concentration of l08 or more with a prior conviction, a Level 6 felony,
Operating a vehicle with an alcohol concentration equivalent to .15 or more, a Class A misdemeanor, and
Operating a vehicle with an alcohol concentration of .15 or more with a prior conviction, a Level 6 felony.
