Linton man facing charges of child seduction following driving lesson incident
/A 43-year-old Linton man is facing a felony charge of child seduction after allegedly exposing himself to a minor during a driving lesson.
Kevin Duayne Brown Jr. was arrested March 24 by Greene County Sheriff’s Department Detective David Elmore on a Level 6 felony charge of child seduction, according to a probable cause affidavit.
The affidavit states that on March 21, the victim disclosed an incident that allegedly occurred on Feb. 27. The victim reported that while on a driving lesson with Brown, he exposed himself, touched his genitals, and asked if the victim wanted to touch them.
On March 24, the victim was interviewed at Susie’s Place in Terre Haute. During the interview, the victim said they were driving from Linton through Bloomfield and had stopped in Bloomfield to use the restroom. When the victim returned to the car, Brown had allegedly exposed himself and repeatedly asked if the victim wanted to touch him. The victim said they declined several times and described Brown's behavior as a masturbating motion.
Brown also allegedly suggested they take back roads, but the victim refused.
Later that day, Elmore interviewed Brown at the Linton Police Department. According to the affidavit, Brown initially denied the allegations but later said the exposure was accidental and he "didn’t mean anything by it." When asked whether he put his genitals back in his pants, Brown allegedly said he did but suggested it could have looked like he was masturbating. He admitted to asking the victim if they wanted to touch him but claimed he did not hear them say no at first due to a loud muffler. Brown said he was “just joking around,” the affidavit states.
Following the interview, Brown was transported to Greene County Jail. His bond was set at $4,000 surety, with 10% cash allowed.
