A Linton man was charged with felony strangulation when he appeared in court this week. He’s accused of lifting a woman off the ground by holding the back of her head and the front of her throat.

Jordan Scott Enochs, 30, Linton, was arrested in late September by Officer Debbie McDonald of the Linton Police Department. His bond was set at $6,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. He posted $600 cash to bond out of jail then appeared in Greene Superior Court this week for his initial hearing.

He’s been charged with strangulation, a Level 6 felony, and domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor.

Officer McDonald responded to investigate after the incident was reported the day after the incident occurred. She reported the alleged victim said when an argument started with Enochs, she took her children to a neighbor’s house so they were not present.

The argument, over who was going to have use of the car that day, escalated outside the residence at the vehicle when the woman was attempting to leave. Enochs allegedly tried to get the keys, bent the woman’s arm, twisted her fingers then grabbed the back of her head and the front of her throat, lifting her off the ground. She said she could not breathe.

During another altercation that occurred later the same day, the woman alleged Enochs had grabbed her hair and hit her head on a piece of furniture in their residence.

Officer McDonald reported that she observed and photographed bruising, red marks and petechiae on the woman’s neck and knots on her head.

Enochs denied hitting and choking the woman.

During his initial hearing, Deputy Public Defender Ellen Martin was appointed to represent him and a no contact order was issued.
