Dorian Scott Conklin, 26, of Linton, was arrested by Deputy David Elmore of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department last Tuesday, April 7. He was taken into custody on a warrant for Conklin’s arrest that was issued on April 2 following an investigation by Deputy Elmore that’s been ongoing for close to a year.

When the criminal case against Conklin was filed on April 2 in Greene Circuit Court, public records were sealed until after Conklin was in custody and an initial hearing conducted last Thursday, April 9.

Conklin has been charged with sexual misconduct with a minor, a Level 4 felony.

The investigation began back in late May of 2019 when Deputy Elmore was looking into the possible theft of a gun from a cabin on South County Road 100 West. During the course of that investigation, Deputy Elmore learned there was a party at the cabin on Easter weekend in 2019 with multiple adults and juveniles and during the party, a sexual encounter took place between an adult and a juvenile. Deputy Elmore talked to multiple individuals about the allegation.

Conklin was the adult suspect. He was interviewed by Deputy Elmore and a DCS case worker about what happened at the party and if he had been sexually involved with the same juvenile on multiple occasions. Over time, numerous interviews were conducted with the juvenile and various witnesses including another juvenile and some other adults.

According to a probable cause affidavit prepared by Deputy Elmore, Conklin allegedly had picked the juvenile up several times, drove the juvenile to an abandoned farmhouse and engaged in sex after he was told the juvenile was 15, then 16 years old. He then engaged in another encounter at the cabin over Easter weekend in 2019. Deputy Elmore said after the incident at the cabin, the juvenile had gone to the hospital with tearing of the juvenile’s vagina.

According to Deputy Elmore, Conklin eventually confirmed the incidents had taken place but denied knowing the juvenile’s age.

Conklin’s bond was set at $15,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. He has since posted $1,500 and been released from jail.
