Linton man arrested: Traffic stop leads to the discovery of handguns and drugs
Sullivan County - On January 10, 2023, at approximately 9:40 p.m., Trooper Austin Robertson of the Putnamville State Police Post, stopped a 2003 Buick for an equipment violation on County Road 890 South near County Road 600 East.
The driver was identified as Barry W. St John, age 66, of Linton. During conversation with St John, criminal indicators were detected, and a search of the vehicle was conducted.
Trooper Robertson discovered methamphetamine, marijuana, heroin, LSD, and two handguns.
Further investigation also revealed that St John displayed signs of impairment. When he was offered the opportunity to take a field sobriety test and a certified test, he refused.
A criminal history check revealed that St John had been convicted of a felony, which would not allow him to possess a firearm.
St John was arrested and taken to the Sullivan County Jail where he is currently being detained.

Operating Vehicle While Intoxicated (refusal), Class A Misdemeanor
Possession of Marijuana, Class B Misdemeanor
