Linton man arrested second time for trespassing in Switz City

A Linton man is in jail accused of trespassing in Switz City on the same property where he was arrested for trespassing last year.

Christopher Ryan Andis

Christopher Ryan Andis, 21, Linton, is in custody on a warrant for his arrest that was issued last week, on Thursday, July 9. Andis was booked into the Greene County Jail yesterday morning around 10:51 a.m. Today, a second warrant was issued for his arrest.

Andis is facing a new charge of criminal trespassing, with a prior conviction, a Level 6 felony. The second warrant was issued on a petition to revoke a suspended sentence in a previous case of criminal trespassing.

Deputy James Carpenter of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched on the morning of July 1 to an apartment complex in Switz City where the property manager said Andis was inside one of the apartments even though he has been trespassed from the property.

According to Deputy Carpenter, in August of 2019, Andis signed a notification form and was advised that he would be arrested if he returned to the property. He did return and was arrested for trespassing in September of 2019 then convicted and sentenced in November of 2019. It’s the case where the Greene County Probation Department has asked for his suspended sentence to be revoked.

When Deputy Carpenter arrived on the scene on July 1, Andis had taken off out a back window of the apartment and the deputy was unable to locate him, so a criminal case was filed and a warrant issued.

Bond has been set in the new case at $4,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed, but Andis is being held without bond on the petition to revoke. As of late Friday, Andis was still in jail – hearing dates unknown.
