Linton man arrested for possession of methamphetamine

Failure to signal a turn resulted in a traffic stop and the eventual Sept. 12 arrest of a 45-year-old Linton man for possession of methamphetamine.

Linton Police Department Officer Janzen Franklin was on patrol in the overnight hours of Sept. 12 when he, according to a probable cause affidavit, observed a tan Chevy Silverado driven by Lawrence Abram, fail to signal a turn at the intersection of 8th Street Southeast and C Street Southeast.

While Officer Franklin spoke with Abram, he asked for and received consent to search the vehicle. During that search, according to the probable cause affidavit, Franklin located a silver and white tin containing a white crystal-like substance. The substance later field-tested positive for methamphetamine.

Franklin spoke with a passenger in the vehicle who alleged the drug belonged to Abram. According to the probable cause, Abram admitted the methamphetamine belonged to him.

Abram was transported to Greene County Jail where he was initially held without bond. He appeared in Greene Superior Court on Sept. 18 where his bond was set at $10,000 surety with 10% cash allowed.
