Linton man arrested after failing to pay for more than $500 worth of items
/A 28-year-old Linton man appeared in Greene Circuit Court Feb. 27 after allegedly failing to pay for more than $500 worth of goods at Walmart.
Linton Police Department Officer Alan Jackson arrested Austin Cody Grizzard on Feb. 23 for theft after he attempted to leave Walmart without rendering payment for $548.83 worth of items.
Jackson responded to Walmart in reference to theft on Feb. 23. Once on scene, he was informed by a Walmart Asset Protection Associate (APA) that a male – later identified as Grizzard – attempted to steal merchandise from the store.
The APA, according to the probable cause affidavit, told Jackson that Grizzard loaded a shopping cart with merchandise, went past the checkout lines, went into the restrooms, then attempted to exit the store through the grocery side doors.
Jackson spoke with Grizzard, who alleged he did not pay for the items because he did not have the money to do so.
He was transported to Greene County Jail where his bond was set at $1,000 surety with 10% cash allowed.
