Linton man arrested after drugs found during probation check
When officers conducted a house search as a condition of probation on a 23-year-old Linton man on Jan. 10, he was arrested after drugs, paraphernalia, and syringes were located inside the residence.
Linton Police Department (LPD) Officer Mitchell Eberhardt arrested Alec McKee on charges of possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 Felony; unlawful possession of a syringe, a Level 6 Felony; and possession of paraphernalia, a Class C Misdemeanor.
According to a probable cause affidavit written by Officer Eberhardt, he along with LPD Officers Davis Aerne, Jerrad Pirtle, JR Blazier, and a representative from the Greene County Probation Officer went to McKee’s County Road 1125 North address to search a camper where McKee resides. Eberhardt, Pirtle, and the Probation Office representative entered the residence, while Aerne and Blazier were outside.
Eberhardt wrote in the probable cause affidavit that before the search, a syringe with liquid inside was in plain view on a countertop. Several syringe caps were lying around the floor of the camper.
The probation representative asked McKee if there was anything in the camper officers needed to know about before the search. McKee alleged there was a brown box under the couch with stuff inside, although he did not state what was inside. Eberhardt located the box inside a cabinet. Inside the box, according to the probable cause affidavit, Eberhardt located several syringes, three glass smoking pipes – two with white residue, a small plastic bag with a white crystal-like substance inside, a small, a small plastic container with a crystal-like rock inside, and several miscellaneous items.
According to the probable cause affidavit, the white crystal-like substance in the plastic baggie and the crystal-like substance in the plastic container field-tested positive for methamphetamine.
McKee was transported to Greene County Jail where he is being held without bond. He is scheduled to appear in Greene Superior Court for an initial hearing on Jan. 16.
