Linton man accused of threatening to kill another man

After a Linton man allegedly threatened to kill another man and was driving away at a high rate of speed on Tuesday night, an LPD officer made the stop and arrested the suspect.

Kevin Michael McBride

Kevin Michael McBride, 62, Linton, was arrested by Officer Janzen Franklin of the Linton Police Department on Tuesday night, June 8.

Officer Franklin was dispatched on Tuesday night to a residence in Linton after LPD got a call about threats made by Kevin McBride. Officer Franklin was advised the resident said McBride had gone to the residence and said that he was going to kill him.

When Officer Franklin was on the way there, he turned north onto 11th Street NE off the highway and saw a gray 2015 Chevrolet Silverado driving on the wrong side of the road at a high rate of speed right toward the officer’s vehicle. A stop was initiated.

Officer Franklin reported the odor of an alcoholic beverage was coming from McBride and McBride allegedly said he’d had a beer earlier in the day. McBride failed field sobriety testing on the scene.

McBride was transported to the police department where he again failed field sobriety testing. A search warrant was issued for a blood draw which was obtained at Greene County General Hospital – results pending - before McBride was transported to the Greene County Jail where he was booked in at 10:09 p.m.

Later when Officer Franklin talked to the resident, the resident said McBride came to his home and asked for the number of his attorney. The resident told him it was none of his business. Some words were exchanged and at some point, McBride allegedly said “I’ll kill your f____ a__.”

While at the residence, Officer Franklin also talked to the daughter of the resident who was outside and heard the exchange between McBride and the resident. Officer Franklin said the daughter’s statement was consistent with the resident’s statement.

McBride’s bond was set at $4,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. He has since posted $400 and been released from custody.

When McBride appears in court for his initial hearing, he’ll be facing charges of:

  • Operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, a Class A misdemeanor,

  • Operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class C misdemeanor and

  • Intimidation, a Class A misdemeanor.
