JPD assists on investigation into Friday night shooting in Hymera

The Jasonville Police Department assisted in an investigation into a shooting that occurred late Friday night in Hymera. Here is the information that has been released by Sullivan County Sheriff Clark Cottom:

HYMERA, IN - Just after 10 PM on Friday evening , Sullivan County Sheriff’s 911 dispatch received a call of shots fired, with a man down in Hymera.

Upon arrival officers learned that a male had been shot multiple times, and that a male suspect had fled the area.

Deputies from the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office were immediately assisted by units from the Indiana State Police, Sullivan City Police, Shelburn Town Marshal, Farmersburg Town Marshal, Jasonville PD, and an Indiana Conservation Officer.

Because of the complexity of this investigation, Sheriff Clark Cottom requested a team from the Indiana State Police Criminal Investigation Division.

This is an active investigation in which police are still sorting through details.

The Indiana State Police will serve as the lead investigating agency, with assistance from the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office.

Hymera Rescue, Shelburn Rescue and Sullivan County Ambulance team provided emergency medical services.

The injured male was transported to an Indianapolis hospital.

No information is available at this moment on the shooter or the victim.
