Jasonville woman arrested after running off the road

A Jasonville woman who ran off the road in her car early last Saturday was arrested on OVWI charges. Tests showed she had a BAC of .153.

Ashley Elizabeth Boram

Ashley Elizabeth Boram, 36, Jasonville, was arrested by Officer Skylar Scott of the Jasonville Police Department early Saturday, September 11.

Officer Scott was on duty in Jasonville around 2:50 a.m. on September 11 when he saw a brown 2021 Chevrolet Malibu that had run off the road on Railroad Street near Sycamore Street. The front of the Malibu was damaged and it was sitting on a concrete block.

Ashley Boram was the driver who allegedly said she tried to answer her phone that was ringing and she didn’t know what happened.

Officer Scott reported he could smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Boram and she showed other signs of impairment. He said she was unable to remove her driver’s license from her wallet and she was swaying when asked to step to the rear of the vehicle.

Boram allegedly said she’d just left the Uptown Tavern in Dugger where she had consumed three drinks.

Officer Scott reported Boram failed standard field sobriety tests on the scene and was transported to the Linton Police Department where results of a certified chemical breath test showed she had an alcohol concentration of .153. The legal limit is .08.

Boram was booked into the Greene County Jail at 5 a.m. with bond set at $4,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. She posted $400 and was released later the same day.

Boram’s initial hearing is scheduled for September 23 in Greene Superior Court on charges of:

  • Operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, a Class A misdemeanor,

  • Operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class C misdemeanor, and

  • Operating a vehicle with an alcohol concentration equivalent to .15 or more, a Class A misdemeanor.

GCSD Deputies Devan Goad and Bobby Just and Linton Police Officer Zachary Goad assisted on the scene and at the police department.
