On Feb. 15, Pilant was dispatched to a South Lawton Street residence to assist the Jasonville Fire Department in locating a patient in need of emergency medical assistance. According to the probable cause affidavit, Pilant was informed Padgett had told emergency responders the patient, who was experiencing stroke-like symptoms, had left the scene. When ambulance personnel responded, an individual at the scene informed them the patient was in fact inside the residence. While evaluating the patient, Padgett allegedly told emergency responders his condition was induced by the use of methamphetamine and displayed a small mirror that had white residue and a cylindrical glass device burnt on one end with a rubber tube attached to the other end. Based on his experience as a police officer, Pilant wrote in the probable cause, he described it as consistent with paraphernalia commonly used to ingest controlled substances.

Pilant submitted and was granted a search warrant for Padgett’s residence. During the search, Pilant along with Jasonville Police Officer Skylar Scott and Worthington Police Chief Jacob Gambill found a blue glass pipe, a small glass tube with residue in it, a piece of tubing, a broken colored glass pipe, and a tin lid with reside that field tested positive for methamphetamine and marijuana on it. Also located was a clear glass tube with a lid on it and a small red container with three oblong white pills in it – two of the pills had M366 imprinted on them while the other one had M367 imprinted on it.

Padgett was transported to Greene County Jail by Pilant.

In the early morning hours of Feb. 16, Greene County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Camron Frye was contacted in regards to a controlled substance located on a subject. While completing a search of Padgett, a jail officer located four Ambien pills in her coat pocket. When Frye asked Padgett about the pills, she allegedly asked if he was referring to aspirin.
