Jasonville woman accused of driving with BAC of .226

A Jasonville driver has been charged with felony OVWI for allegedly driving with a blood alcohol concentration of .226 in early June. The legal limit is .08.

Madison Shea Barron, 24, Jasonville, was arrested by Officer Bobby Pierce of the Linton Police Department early Saturday, June 5.

When Barron appeared in Greene Superior Court last Thursday, June 17, for her initial hearing, she was formally charged with:

  • Operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, a Class A misdemeanor,

  • Operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person – with a prior within seven years, a Level 6 felony,

  • Operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class C misdemeanor,

  • Operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a prior conviction within seven years, a Level 6 felony,

  • Operating a vehicle with an alcohol concentration equivalent to .15 or more, a Class A misdemeanor, and

  • Operating a vehicle with an alcohol concentration of .15 or more with a prior conviction, a Level 6 felony.

Officer Pierce reported he initiated a traffic stop on a white 2016 Jeep Wrangler after seeing the Jeep cross the center line three times while westbound on State Road 54 on June 5.

Barron was the driver of the Jeep, pulled over near SR 54 and County Road 1275 West.

Barron allegedly showed numerous signs of intoxication including a strong odor of alcohol coming from her breath, bloodshot and glassy eyes and extremely slurred speech. Officer Pierce said when she got out of her vehicle, she had extremely poor balance.

Barron reportedly failed field sobriety testing and the results of a certified breath test administered at the police department showed she had a BAC of .226. The legal limit is .08.

A records check revealed she had a previous conviction for operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a BAC of .15 or more in Sullivan County in 2018.

Barron was booked into the Greene County Jail at 5:24 a.m. with bond set at $8,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. She posted $800 bond and was released from jail later the same day.
