Jasonville man arrested for possession of methamphetamine
A 38-year-old Jasonville man found himself behind bars after a baggie of a white crystal-like substance was found in the front passenger seat of a vehicle in which he was riding.
Jasonville Police Department Officer Skylar Scott arrested Curtis Shane Freeland on Jan. 25 following a traffic stop on a vehicle in which he was the passenger. The traffic stop was initiated because the vehicle’s registration had expired.
While identifying Freeland as the vehicle’s passenger, Scott, according to the probable cause affidavit, was notified he had an active warrant from Vigo County.
The driver consented to a search of the vehicle. While searching the vehicle's passenger side, Scott located a small plastic bag with a white crystal-like substance inside. The substance, according to the probable cause affidavit, later field-tested positive for methamphetamine.
The driver advised Scott the drugs did not belong to her and that she was unaware they were in the car. Freeland alleged the drugs did not belong to him. According to the probable cause, Scott advised Freeland the baggie was located next to the seat he had been sitting in. Freeland then allegedly admitted the drugs belonged to him.
He was transported to Greene County Jail and held without bond. He is scheduled to appear in Greene Superior Court on Jan. 29 for an initial hearing.
