Jasonville driver arrested by ISP Trooper on drug charges
On Monday, February 14, 2022, at approximately 3 p.m., Indiana State Police Bloomington District A.C.E.S. (Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Section) member, Trooper Caleb Garvin, observed a Black Audi passenger vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on State Road 445 just west of Interstate 69 in Greene County. Trp. Garvin confirmed his suspicion of the vehicle's speed by use of his radar which showed the vehicle traveling 80 mph in a 50 mph zone.
Trp. Garvin conducted a traffic stop and during the encounter, he smelled the odor of marijuana along with other indicators of criminal activity. Trp. Garvin immediately detained the driver, Zandariah Hill, a 36-year-old male from Jasonville along with his adult passenger who would later be released with no charges. A search of the vehicle revealed suspected narcotics and paraphernalia. Hill, who showed signs of impairment, was taken for a blood draw as part of an OVWI (Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated) investigation and then transported to the Greene County Jail and booked for the following charges:
-Possession of Methamphetamine, Level 6 Felony
-Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe, Level 6 Felony
-Possession of Marijuana, Class B Misdemeanor
-Possession of Paraphernalia, Class C Misdemeanor
-Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated – Controlled Substance, Class C Misdemeanor
All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
