ISP Investigation: Linton man arrested, accused of attempted murder

A 21-year-old Linton man accused of attempted murder has been arrested following a shooting incident in Linton this weekend. The Indiana State Police has confirmed they are leading an ongoing investigation into the incident.

Elijiah David Scott Gwyn is in custody in the Greene County Jail.

Gwyn is being held on preliminary charges that include:

  • Attempted murder, a Level 1 felony,
  • Four counts of criminal recklessness, all Level 5 felonies,
  • Aggravated battery, a Level 3 felony,
  • Two counts of pointing a firearm, a Level 6 felony, and
  • Carrying a firearm without a license, a Class A misdemeanor.

Indiana State Police detectives were notified early Sunday morning, just after 5 a.m., that the Linton Police Department had been gathering information since 4 a.m. on a case of attempted murder. The Linton Police Department requested Indiana State Police assistance in the investigation.

According to Sgt. Curt Durnil, public information officer at the ISP Bloomington Post, the ISP detectives are working in combination with the local police department.

Sgt. Durnil said detectives discovered a person had been shot at a residence at 249 G Street in Linton just before 4 a.m. Sunday. The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the arm – a non-life-threatening injury.

As of 5 p.m. Sunday, no further information has been released.
