ISP A.C.E.S. Troopers and K9 ‘Loki’ apprehend wanted fugitive in Greene County

Greene County - Yesterday afternoon, Wednesday, May 15, members of the Indiana State Police Bloomington District A.C.E.S., Sgt. Greg Day, Trooper Richard Klun, Trooper Caleb Garvin and Trooper Gabe Bault were in eastern Greene County attempting to locate Jesse D. Burton, 36, of Bloomfield.

Troopers obtained information that Burton was wanted on active felony warrants through both Lawrence and Martin counties and was possibly living and working in the area near Eastern Greene Junior High School.

Troopers checked multiple locations in the area and just before 4 p.m., Troopers Garvin and Bault arrived at a residence in the 10000 block of State Road 54.  As they pulled up to the residence, they observed Burton standing out in the yard.

Burton immediately took off running into the woods.

Troopers Garvin and Bault exited their police cars, identified themselves, and gave several commands for Burton to stop. Burton refused to stop and entered the woods behind the residence.

Within moments, a perimeter was established and Trooper Klun and his K9 “Loki” arrived at the residence. Loki began to track Burton and led troopers about 100 yards into the woods, near an abandoned vehicle, where Burton was found hiding.

Burton surrendered without any further incident and was taken into custody.
