ISP Joint Investigation with Kentucky State Police, with WPD assistance, leads to arrest of Worthington man

The Worthington Police Department has been providing assistance in a joint investigation conducted by the Indiana State Police and Kentucky State Police that resulted in the arrest of a Worthington man accused of felony child molestation, child seduction and rape. The suspect is currently behind bars ar the Greene County Jail.

On Thursday, January 5, 2023, the Kentucky State Police Post in Columbia, Kentucky contacted the Indiana State Police Bloomington District about an active Child Molestation case that they were investigating and that some of the alleged criminal elements occurred in Indiana. Kentucky State Police requested ISP locate and interview their suspect in Worthington, Indiana. 

After receiving the report, Bloomington District Detectives Trooper Ian Matthews and Master Trooper Allen Deel responded to the residence and located the male suspect.

During the investigation, Detective Matthews and Deel were assisted by Crime Scene Investigation Sergeant Eric Russell from the Indiana State Police Laboratory, Town Marshal Jacob Gambil and Deputy Town Marshal Michael McGough of the Worthington Police Department, and Representatives from the Indiana Department of Child Services with the execution of search warrants and other investigative techniques.

The investigation ultimately led to the arrest of, Christopher Allen Couch, a 31-year-old male from Worthington, Indiana.

Couch was arrested and transported to the Greene County Jail on the following charges:

  • Child Molesting, a Level 1 Felony

  • Child Seduction, a Level 3 Felony

  • Rape, a Level 3 Felony

  • Possession Of Paraphernalia, a Class B Misdemeanor

These charges are based on events that took place in Indiana.

Couch is expected to be facing additional criminal charges in Kentucky in regard to the investigation by the Kentucky State Police.
