Homeless woman accused of biting another woman in a public park

A homeless woman accused of biting another woman during an altercation in a public park was arrested last week by an LPD detective.

Cynthia Lynn Adamson

Cynthia Lynn Adamson, 47, who was listed on the jail log and in court records as homeless, was arrested by Detective Logan Hobbs of the Linton Police Department last Wednesday, October 19.

Around 3:24 last Wednesday afternoon, LPD dispatch got a 911 call where screaming could be heard in the background but no information could be gained from the caller who made the call from the area of the Linton City Park.

Detective Hobbs was dispatched to the park for this unknown situation but he did not find anyone screaming when he got there. He did, however, find a woman laying on a sleeping bag near the mini-golf area of the park and he recognized her to be Cynthia Adamson from a previous interaction that occurred earlier in the day.

Dispatch then notified Detective Hobbs of the person associated with the phone number that made the 911 call. Hobbs was also familiar with her and so he went to her home to talk to her and she said she was walking at the park with her juvenile grandchild when Adamson called the child a *******. The woman said she went to Adamson to confront her but Adamson became irate and bit her thumb and her nose. Detective Hobbs reported the woman had abrasions to her thumb and nose that appeared consistent with her statement and he photographed her injuries.

Detective Hobbs then met LPD Officer Davis Aerne at the park and interviewed Adamson briefly. When asked if she'd been in an altercation, Adamson allegedly admitted she had and further said, “That psycho ***** came over and started attacking my ***.” When asked if she bit the other woman, Adamson allegedly said, “I don't know, I might’ve.”

Adamson was taken into custody and transported to the sheriff's department where she was booked into the Greene County Jail at 4:40 PM with bond set at $1000 surety with 10% cash allowed. The jail was unable to obtain a mug shot for Adamson at the time she appeared on the GreeneStreets jail log but one was obtained today.

Adamson was scheduled to appear in Greene Superior Court for her initial hearing this afternoon, Tuesday, October 25.

She has been charged with battery resulting in bodily injury, a Class A misdemeanor.
