Health Department to host free back-to-school health fair July 25
/Families preparing for the upcoming school year will have access to a variety of free health services and school supplies during the Greene County Health Department's Back-to-School Health Fair on Saturday, July 25.
The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Greene County Community Event Center, located at the 4-H Fairgrounds, 4503 W. State Road 54, Bloomfield.
All health services offered during the event will be free.
Children ages 5 to 18 can receive Indiana-required and recommended immunizations, while CHIRP shot record printouts will be available for all ages.
Adults ages 18 and older can take advantage of free health screenings, including blood pressure, cholesterol, A1C and glucose testing. Lead screenings will also be available for children ages 1 to 6.
The event will also feature the Food as Medicine Program, with $25 family gift cards available for adults, limited to one per household.
School-aged children can receive free sports physicals, with parental or guardian consent required.
In addition to health services, organizers will distribute free backpacks and school supplies for children ages 5 to 18, while supplies last. Children who receive immunizations or sports physicals will also be eligible to receive school shoes valued up to $50.
Free haircuts for children ages 5 to 18 will be offered, along with complimentary hot dogs, popcorn and snow cones.
The event is open to the public, and organizers encourage families throughout Greene County to attend and take advantage of the free resources available as students prepare to return to school.
