Headlight out leads to traffic stop and a felony charge

A driver stopped for a headlight out was not accused of impaired driving but is facing charges after paraphernalia was found in his vehicle.

Jacob Edward Bell, 27, Springville, was arrested Wednesday, March 18, on a warrant that was issued for his arrest on March 7. Bell’s bond was set at $4,500 surety with ten percent cash allowed. He posted $450 and was released later the same day.

Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy David Elmore was on patrol on State Road 58 near Black Ankle Road Friday night, February 28, when he stopped a red pickup truck with a headlight out.

Bell was the driver whose driver’s license was suspended. There were a couple of passengers riding with him. Bell agreed to a search of the truck and Deputy Elmore reported finding paraphernalia.

Bell is facing charges of neglect of a dependent – placed dependent in a situation that endangered the dependent, a Level 6 felony, and possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.
