A Switz City man on probation allegedly gunned his vehicle over railroad tracks last Friday night. The vehicle went sideways and crashed and he wound up in jail on OVWI charges. He bonded out but now there’s a warrant out for his arrest for violating the terms of his probation.

Quintin Levi Resler, 21, Switz City, was recently arrested by Deputy Michael Coy of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department and has since bonded out of jail. Resler was booked in at 12:26 a.m. last Saturday, March 27, following a crash that occurred shortly before 10 p.m. last Friday, March 26.

Deputy Coy was dispatched after the sheriff’s department got a report about vehicle that was smoking after it crashed on West County Road 100 North. An ambulance was also dispatched.

Resler was the driver of a white 2004 Dodge Ram and when Deputy Coy arrived, Resler admitted he was driving and that he didn’t think he was injured but his head hurt. Resler allegedly said he started drinking earlier that day and had consumed about six beers. Deputy Coy observed Resler had a difficult time maintaining his balance and exhibited other signs of intoxication. Resler was checked by emergency medical personnel then declined further treatment and a trip to the hospital.

Deputy Coy reported Resler failed standard field sobriety tests on the scene and agreed to take a chemical test, saying “I’m done for.” Resler was transported to the Linton Police Department where he again failed standard field sobriety tests. When a chemical test was conducted, results showed he had a blood-alcohol concentration of .162. The legal limit is .08.

There was a passenger on board when the crash occurred and he was interviewed by LPD Officer Bobby Pierce. The passenger allegedly said as the vehicle approached railroad tracks, Resler “gunned it” and when the vehicle reached the other side of the tracks, it was sideways. The passenger said he was wearing a seatbelt but had injured a shoulder in the crash. He also allegedly said Resler had consumed a 15 pack of Bud Light prior to the accident.

Resler was transported to jail where his bond was set at $4,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. He posted $400 and was released later the same day.

Resler’s initial hearing in Greene Superior Court is set for next Thursday, April 8. He is facing preliminary charges of:

Operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, a Class A misdemeanor,

Operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class C misdemeanor, and

Operating a vehicle with an alcohol concentration equivalent to .15 or more, a Class A misdemeanor.

In another recent case against Resler, he was convicted of domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor, on February 10. He was sentenced to one year in the county jail but was given credit for 10 days already served and the rest was suspended. He was on probation when the crash occurred.

After this latest incident, the Greene County Probation Department filed a petition to revoke his suspended sentence for an alleged violation of his probation. He did bond out of jail on the latest charge but on the petition to revoke, a warrant was issued earlier today for his arrest.
