Greene County Treasurer: A note of thanks, as we move forward

As we move forward…..

COVID-19 has changed our nation, our state, our county and our towns. The expectations and requirements changed daily for everyone. In a time of uncertainty, we all faced so many concerns and fears.

The Auditor and I worried about the collection of taxes and distribution of funds to every entity that depends on those checks twice a year. I worried about the safety of my staff that were in the office as we knew we were handling COVID exposed documents and funds as it came from every taxpayer in the county. Even with the risk, we knew we had to be here for you and for the county.

Thankfully, the tax payments came into the office. As a matter of fact, we collected 94.4% of the amount that we collected last year at this time. We collected over half the annual billed amount!

This allows for our schools to get the funding they need to operate. This allows our fire departments, police, libraries, towns, etc. to be able to provide the services we need in the county. This allows our infrastructure to continue to improve. Each of you has a hand in the growth of this county.

The Greene County Auditor, Matthew Baker, and I would like to extend our sincerest thank you to each taxpayer in this great county. Thank you so much! We continue to work hard for you every day and know that we are here for you.
