Greene County man faces charge of sexual misconduct with a minor
/A Greene County man has been arrested Aug. 12 on a sexual misconduct with a minor charge following a nearly three-month investigation involving multiple agencies and witness interviews.
John R. Anderson, 44, of Solsberry, faces one count of sexual misconduct with a minor, a Level 5 felony after a warrant was issued for his arrest on Aug. 11. The charge stems from allegations involving a 14-year-old girl, who is a family member of Anderson.
According to court documents, the case began May 14 when a Department of Child Services caseworker contacted the Greene County Sheriff’s Office with a report of alleged inappropriate conduct. Detectives worked with Susie’s Place Child Advocacy Center in Bloomington, where the girl provided a recorded statement.
Investigators also spoke with multiple family members and witnesses, who provided additional information and context. A search warrant was issued for Anderson’s cellphone, which detectives say contained messages and images exchanged between him and the alleged victim, along with text conversations between Anderson and his wife regarding the accusations.
Court records indicate the incidents under investigation allegedly took place between Easter weekend and early May at both Anderson’s home in Greene County and during an overnight stay at a hotel in Indianapolis.
The investigation also involved reviewing electronic records and communications to establish a timeline. Detectives noted that some of the conversations recovered from Anderson’s phone referenced physical contact and interactions consistent with the allegations described by the victim.
After the warrant was served, Anderson was transported to Greene County Jail where his bond was set at $10,000 surety with 10% cash allowed. He was released after posting $1,000.
