Greene County General Hospital installs new medication disposal drop box

The box is located inside the emergency room entrance near the GCGH Police Department and is accessible 24/7 for drop-off. All personal information must be removed from packaging. Pill bottles, plastic bags, and packaging must be firmly sealed to avoid spilling.

Previously, GCGH has hosted Drug Take-Back events that have proven successful with the number of unwanted and expired medications collected. GCGH Chief of Police Bryan Woodall says, “This new drug drop box fulfills a need in our community for people who want to safely and securely discard medications. We’re happy to be able to provide this convenient and much-needed service here at Greene County General Hospital.”
Expired and unwanted medications collected at the hospital drop box will be securely transported to Indianapolis where all medications will be incinerated.
