Steven John Pollitt, 54, Linton, was arrested by Sergeant Jordan Allor or of the Greene County Sheriff's Department on Tuesday night, June 7.

Around 7:40 PM, Sergeant Allor initiated a traffic stop on a white 2007 Chevrolet Aveo for disregarding the stop sign at the intersection of 2nd Street NW and D Street NW in Linton. Pollitt was the driver who exhibited signs of intoxication during the stop.

Pollitt admitted his driver’s license was suspended then said he had never had a driver’s license.

Once Officers Bobby Pierce and Cayden Walker of the Linton Police Department arrived to assist on the scene, Pollitt was asked to exit his vehicle for standard field sobriety testing which he failed. He agreed to submit to a chemical test and was transported to the Linton Police Department where results of a certified breath test showed he had an alcohol concentration of .168. The legal limit is .08.

Pollitt allegedly admitted several times that he had disregarded the stop sign saying he “glided” through it and that a lot of people do that, but Sergeant Allor said that still doesn't make it OK.
