The ramp from State Road 445 onto I-69 southbound in eastern Greene County was closed for a few hours Monday after a semi-tractor and trailer rollover crash at 10:34 a.m. Deputies from the Greene County Sheriff’s Department responded along with personnel from the Indiana State Police, Center-Jackson Fire Department, the Greene County Ambulance Service and Bland Towing. GCSD Deputy James Carpeter, the investigating officer, reported no injuries.

Marlon R. Kersh, 57, Bloomington, was operating a red 2016 Freightliner semi-tractor pulling a 2007 Great Dane box trailer coming from Bloomfield, headed to Cleveland, Ohio, when the crash occurred. This was the driver’s first time on this route.

According to Deputy Carpenter, the driver said when he was southbound on State Road 445, he started to slow down for the roundabout and he wasn’t sure what happened but the vehicle went off the west side of State Road 445 and rolled over.

Kersh’s son with the same name, Marlon R. Kersh, 34, was asleep in the sleeper cab and woke up when the vehicle was rolling over. The passenger said he saw his father in the passenger seat when the truck stopped. He also said his father does have medical issues but had not complained of anything prior to the crash.
