Former Linton woman, in middle of divorce and custody issues, facing battery charge
A Jeffersonville woman, formerly from Linton, was in Linton when she allegedly used a closed fist to hit another woman in the face.
Crystal Wade, age unknown, is accused of battery resulting in bodily injury, a Class A misdemeanor.
The charge was filed against Wade last week following an investigation by Officer Nick Yingling of the Linton Police Department.
In late June, Yingling was dispatched to a Linton residence where a man said he had received temporary emergency custody of his children a few months ago. He said he had been separated from his wife, the mother of the children, for a long time and they are in the process of getting a divorce. He told the officer the mother, Crystal Wade, was only allowed to have supervised visits with the children.
According to Yingling’s report, Wade had arrived at the man’s home and communicated with the children by cell phone and the man did not know she was outside. But he saw his children walking out the door late in the evening and so he followed. Wade was standing in his driveway.
The man grabbed the youngest child and put the child back in the house, then his girlfriend came out of the house to help get the other two children back inside.
Wade allegedly confronted the woman and hit her twice in the face, then fled.
Officer Yingling also interviewed the woman who was allegedly hit and he tried to contact Wade but he said she failed to return his calls.
A criminal summons has been sent to Wade commanding her to appear in Greene Superior Court on August 6.
