Man accused of exposing his genitals in front of children in public space
/A summons to appear in Greene Superior Court has been issued for a Linton man after he allegedly showed his genitals in the parking lot of an apartment complex.
Sgt. Jordan Allor of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call at the Golf Course Apartments at 5:06 p.m. on Feb. 18 regarding a male wearing a dark-colored shirt and underwear showing his genitals in the parking lot. The caller stated children were outside to witness.
Upon arrival, Allor spoke with a female who said her husband was the one who placed the call. She said the subject – later identified as Elijah R. Haldeman – had been masturbating and pulling his penis outside of his underwear near her apartment. She said her children were looking out the windows as this was happening and saw Haldeman’s actions. She said she went outside and told Haldeman to go back to his apartment.
She pointed out a pair of gray sweatpants lying on the ground to Sgt. Allor. She said they belonged to Haldeman and said he had previously been wearing them.
When Sgt. Allor approached Haldeman’s apartment, his mom was standing outside. According to the probable cause affidavit, she said, “I don’t know what he’s on.” She told Allor and Linton Police Department Officer Cayden Walker she was cooking dinner when Haldeman started screaming and ran to the other end of the apartments. She said she ran over to him and brought him back to the apartment she was at. While standing outside talking, Allor could hear him yelling inside the apartment.
When Allor and Walker entered the apartment and observed Haldeman, an ambulance was called due to his behavior.
When leaving the hospital, his mom approached Allor holding the pair of sweatpants that had been lying on the road. She said the pants were Haldeman’s. She also located a white metal smoking device, which Allor took into his possession to be destroyed,
Haldeman has been issued a summons to appear in court on a charge of public indecency: engages in other sexual conduct in a public place, a Class A Misdemeanor.
