Equipment violations lead to traffic stop then to jail
A driver who got stopped because his truck had a headlight and taillight out wound up in jail for driving with a BAC of .18.
A criminal case was filed yesterday against Randal Lee Wines, 24, Sandborn, who was arrested by Sgt. Bobby Pierce of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department early Saturday, June 6.
Wines was the driver of a red 1990 Ford Ranger that was stopped at Huck’s Convenience Store in Bloomfield around 12:18 a.m. on Saturday, June 6, because the vehicle had a headlight and a taillight out.
Wines showed signs of alcohol impairment and was asked to perform standard field sobriety testing. Sgt. Pierce reported Wines failed the tests.
When Wines took a certified chemical breath test, results showed he had an alcohol concentration equivalent to .18. The legal limit is .08.
Records show Wines has a previous conviction in 2016 in Knox County for operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
Wines was booked into the Greene County Jail at 1:52 a.m. with bond set at $8,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. He posted $800 and was released later the same day.
