A man found standing in a dumpster said he was tired of getting into trouble for climbing into dumpsters.

Douglas Lynn McCall, 39, Linton, was arrested by Officer Adam King of the Linton Police Department on Saturday, August 29.

Around 5:45 p.m. that Saturday, the Linton Police Department got a call from someone who said there were two men inside a dumpster on the caller’s property on 11th Street NE in Linton, without permission. Then the caller said the two had moved across the street and were climbing into another dumpster on Roosevelt Street.

LPD Officers John Agan, the investigating officer, and Adam King responded and found two men standing inside a dumpster. Both men were asked for their identification. One complied and the other, later identified as Douglas McCall, said he did not have any but he gave a name and date of birth that didn’t check out.

When informed it didn’t check out, he changed the spelling of the name but that didn’t check out either. Then he said it was through Illinois but that didn’t check out.

Then when LPD Chief Paul Clark arrived on the scene, he recognized McCall and was able to identify him due to previous interactions.

When asked why he gave a fake name and date of birth, McCall said because he was tired of getting in trouble for climbing in dumpsters.

When McCall’s correct identifying information was checked, he was found to have a warrant on a parole violation. He was taken into custody and held without bond.

Now McCall is facing a preliminary charge of false informing resulting in substantial hindrance to a law enforcement procedure, a Class A misdemeanor.
