A Linton driver who drank a few beers in a bar, then drank some at home, then went out to buy more beer was pulled over for driving left of center through a curve.

Kimberley Jayne Holcomb, 62, Linton, was arrested by Officer Bobby Pierce of the Linton Police Department. She was booked into the Greene County Jail at 12:08 a.m. on Tuesday, August 24, after being pulled over in a traffic stop at 10:05 p.m. on Monday, August 23.

Holcomb was the driver of a silver 2005 Chevrolet traveling on E Street NE when officers saw the vehicle go left of center and continue to drive left of center through a curve. The stop was conducted by Officer Pierce, the investigating officer, and Chief Paul Clark.

During the stop, noticing the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Holcomb’s breath, Chief Clark asked if she had been drinking. Holcomb denied having anything to drink but later admitted she’d been drinking beer.

When Holcomb got out of the vehicle for standard field sobriety testing, she had noticeably poor balance but explained she had a medical condition so two parts of the test were not given. However, during the other tests, she stumbled and almost fell over and testing was stopped for safety.

Holcomb was transported to the police department where she failed all sobriety tests given then admitted she had five Bud Lights at the Legion then went home and had a couple more. When she ran out of beer, she decided to drive to the gas station to buy more.

She agreed to take a chemical breath test. Results showed she had an alcohol concentration equivalent to .14. The legal limit is .08.

Holcomb was transported to jail where her bond was set at $4,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. She posted $400 and was released later the same day.

She is scheduled to appear in Greene Superior Court on September 13 for her initial hearing on charges of:

• Operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, a Class A misdemeanor,

• Operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class C misdemeanor, and

• Operating a vehicle with an alcohol concentration equivalent to at least .08 but less than .15, a Class C misdemeanor.
