A driver who allegedly crossed the center line at least three times in front of a police officer was pulled over this week then taken to jail for operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

Meagan Michaelle Gentry, 37, Sandborn, was arrested by Officer Janzen Franklin of the Linton Police Department early Tuesday, November 29, following an incident that started late Monday, November 28.

Officer Franklin was on duty on State Road 54 near 5th St NE in Linton when he saw a 2002 Ford Mustang cross the center line. He was following the vehicle on SR 54 when it allegedly crossed the center line again near 3rd St NE. He was still following it on to SR 59 when he said it crossed the center line again near Vincennes St. At that point he initiated a traffic stop near Save-a-Lot on SR 59.

Gentry was the driver who became upset when she was asked to step out of the vehicle for standard field sobriety testing. Officer Franklin reported she failed the tests and when he tried to put her in handcuffs, she tried to pull away. Officer Cayden Walker had arrived on scene to assist and the two of them did place her in handcuffs.

Gentry did not agree to a blood draw so she was taken to the Linton Police Department to wait for approval of a search warrant. Once issued, Gentry was transported to Greene County General Hospital for a blood draw.

While Officer Franklin was packaging the evidence at the hospital, Gentry allegedly told him that she had used methamphetamine two days earlier.

Gentry was transported to the sheriff's department where she was booked into the Greene County Jail at 2:52 AM. She has since bonded out of jail and is scheduled to appear in Greene Superior Court on December 5 to be formally charged with:

• Operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, a Class A misdemeanor, and

• Operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class C misdemeanor.
