Devin James Robertson, 19, Linton, was arrested by Deputy Harvey Holt of the Greene County Sheriff's Department yesterday afternoon, Thursday, November 3.

Deputy Holt was dispatched to a rural area south of Linton after Greene County Dispatch got a call from a woman who said she was out walking her dog and came across a blue Dodge car sitting in the middle of the road. She said the driver was slumped over behind the wheel and she could not get him to respond.

Officer Davis Aerne of the Linton Police Department also responded and was first to arrive on the scene located on County Road 20 N near CR 1375 W. Officer Aerne was able to get a response from the driver and contacted Deputy Holt, who was enroute. Deputy Holt said Officer Aerne told him the driver was not acting right.

When Deputy Holt arrived on the scene, Officer Aerne was talking to the driver who was identified as Devin Robertson. His vehicle was a blue Dodge Avenger.

Deputy Holt reported that when he looked through the partially open driver’s door window he saw, in plain view, a brown paper napkin wrapped around the stem of a glass smoking device.

When asked about the smoking device, Robertson allegedly admitted he smoked “dope” (methamphetamine) three days earlier and the residue in the pipe would test positive for methamphetamine. When Deputy Holt field tested the residue, it did test positive as methamphetamine.

Prior to towing Robertson’s vehicle, an inventory as required by law was conducted and Deputy Holt reported finding a torn corner of a plastic bag that contained a white crystal substance. This item was seized as evidence and will be sent to a laboratory for analysis.

Robertson was detained, transported to the sheriff's department and booked into the Green County Jail at 1:33 PM.

Robertson is being held without bond pending court appearance.

Earlier today, a criminal case was filed against Robertson in Greene Superior Court. He is being charged with:

  • Possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony, and

  • Possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.

Robertson is scheduled to appear in court for his initial hearing on Monday afternoon, November 7.
