A 43-year-old Jasonville woman was arrested on Jan. 7 on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated after crashing her vehicle.

Greene County Sheriff’s Department Sergeant Jordan Allor responded to a one-vehicle crash on North State Road 59 south of County Road 625 North in Linton. Upon arrival, Allor observed a 2004 red Jetta in a ditch on the east side of the roadway. Melinda Jean Delph was identified as the driver of the vehicle. 

Delph told Sgt. Allor she lost control of the vehicle causing it to go into the ditch. Allor asked where she was going and she said Jasonville, but pointed south. Jasonville was north of the area in which they were. Allor pointed to the north and asked Delph if she was traveling "that" way to which she said Jasonville was not “that way” and pointed to the south and said it was “that way”. 

While talking with Delph, Allor could smell an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her. Allor reported in the probable cause affidavit that she also had slurred speech. 

Delph submitted to and failed a standard field sobriety test. She later tested 0.168 on a portable breath test. 

She allegedly told Sgt. Allor she had been drinking in Bruceville and consumed three margaritas. 

Due to the accident, she was transported to Greene County General Hospital to be cleared prior to being transported to Greene County Jail. While at the hospital, a blood draw was taken with results pending. 

After she was medically cleared, she was transported to Greene County Jail where a bond of $4,000 surety with 10 percent cash allowed was set. She was released the following day after posting $400. 

She is scheduled to appear in Greene Superior Court on Jan. 19 at 8:30 a.m. where she will formally be charged with: 

• Operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, a Class A Misdemeanor

• Operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class C Misdemeanor
