Driver airlifted to Indy this evening after his Charger was hit by a train

One man was injured this evening when his Dodge Charger was hit by a train around 5:30 in the Linton area. He was airlifted to a hospital in Indianapolis and the crash is still under investigation.

Deputy Sgt. Jordan Allor of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department reported the crash occurred at approximately 5:38 p.m. Tuesday, January 11, near the intersection of County Road 1375 West and CR 50 North in the Linton area.

Matthew Pugh, 23, Carlisle, was the driver of a 2021 Dodge Charger that was southbound on CR 1375 West near the intersection when his Charger was hit by a train on the passenger side of the Charger.

Sgt. Allor said Pugh was transported by the Greene County Ambulance Service to Greene County General Hospital. From there, he was transported by AirEvac 39 to Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis. No additional details regarding the extent of his injuries or his condition has been released.

Sgt. Allor said the accident remains under investigation.

In addition to the Greene County Sheriff’s Department, personnel responded to the scene from the Indiana State Police, Linton Police Department, Linton Fire Department, Greene County Ambulance Service, AirEvac 39, Indiana Rail Road and Skinner Towing.
