Driver accused of OVWI, traveling in wrong lane of highway

A driver reported to be traveling at a high rate of speed in the wrong lane of 67 in the Worthington area last weekend was stopped then arrested.

Jack Duane Beegle, 26, of Terre Haute, was arrested last weekend by Deputy David Elmore of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department after Beegle was pulled over by Deputy Marshal Russell Walls of the Worthington Police Department.

Late on Saturday, October 26, someone called 911 and said a gold Ford Explorer was on State Road 67, in the wrong lane.

WPD Officer Walls saw the vehicle and reported it was southbound on 67 south of Worthington, traveling at a high rate of speed in the wrong lane.

Shortly after, Officer Walls had initiated a traffic stop and the vehicle was pulled over in the area of State Roads 67 and 57.

Beegle was identified as the driver of a gold 2005 Ford Explorer.

Deputy Elmore, the investigating officer, and Deputy Michael Coy responded to assist Officer Walls on the scene and Deputy Elmore said when they arrived, Walls was at Beegle’s door asking him to step out of the vehicle.

According to Deputy Elmore, Beegle showed signs of impairment, failed standard field sobriety testing on the scene then failed them again after being transported to the sheriff’s department. Chemical test results showed Beegle with a BAC of .114.

Beegle was booked in to jail early on Sunday, October 27. His bond was set at $4,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. He posted bond and was released.

Deputy Elmore noted Beegle has a previous conviction in 2014 for operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
