A driver traveling through Greene County on I-69 was stopped earlier this month for speeding. She’s facing a misdemeanor charge of reckless driving.

Kiara Shanice Cushenberry, 31, Indianapolis, was stopped on I-69 on Sunday, January 3, by Indiana State Police Master Trooper John Yung.

Cushenberry was the driver of a red 2014 Nissan Sentra that was northbound on I-69 around 12:42 p.m. on January 3, when Trooper Yung saw the vehicle traveling in the left lane at a speed he thought was in excess of the 70 mph limit.

Trooper Yung reported his moving radar showed the vehicle was going 94 mph.

Trooper Yung turned around and pursued the vehicle which stayed in the left lane and passed several other vehicles.

When Trooper Yung closed in and started a Vascar track, he reported the Vascar showed Cushenberry’s vehicle was going 108.5 mph for a distance of over 1.8 miles.

Eventually the vehicle stopped and pulled over in the median.

Cushenberry, who had one male passenger on board, allegedly said she was trying to get to her kids.

A criminal case was filed against her in Greene Superior Court and a summons was sent ordering her to appear for an initial hearing on March 8.

She is facing a charge of reckless driving at unreasonable speed that endangers safety, a Class C misdemeanor.
