Distracted driver injured in crash into trees, utility pole and garage

A driver was injured in a Wednesday morning crash into trees, a telephone pole and a garage. Distracted driving was named as the cause. A deputy said the man was texting when he lost control.

Jason D. Krise, 38, of Solsberry, was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and sustained personal injury. No information was released regarding the nature or extent of injury but the Greene County Ambulance Service did respond to the scene.

Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy Terry Wade, the investigating officer, said the crash occurred on State Road 54 east of Corwin Road around 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 3.

Krise was driving a gold 2000 Honda Accord westbound on the highway.

Wade said Krise was attempting to text message at the same time as he was driving and as a result, his vehicle traveled left of center then went over an embankment on the south side of the highway.

Wade reported Krise’s vehicle then hit a telephone pole and trees before continuing on through a private yard where it hit and damaged a garage before it finally came to rest.

The airbags did deploy during the impact.

In addition to the sheriff’s department and the ambulance service, the Indiana State Police assisted on the scene along with Bill’s Auto.
