September 11, 5:23 p.m. – Timothy William Pruitt, 40, Linton, Ind., was arrested on a warrant issued on a preliminary charge of felony neglect of a dependent. His bond was set at $10,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. He posted $1,000 cash and was released later the same day. Bloomfield Deputy Marshal Wayman JR Blazier was the arresting officer.

Kathrine Pruitt and Timothy Pruitt are scheduled to appear in Greene Circuit Court for initial hearings on September 25.

A warrant was issued today for the arrest of a Linton couple accused of neglect of a dependent. Police say they were aware of incidents involving sexual contact with a child but failed to take any significant steps to protect the child.

Timothy W. Pruitt, 40, and Kathrine Nicolle Pruitt, 35, are both facing a preliminary charge of neglect of a dependent resulting in bodily injury, a Level 5 felony.

Sgt. Logan Hobbs of the Linton Police Department has been questioning the Pruitts in connection with an investigation into a case against Logan Lee Pruitt, 18, also of Linton, son of Timothy Pruitt.

Logan Pruitt was arrested Friday, August 30, and booked into the Greene County Jail where he’s being held on bond set at $25,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. He has not yet posted bond. When he appeared in Greene Circuit Court on Thursday, September 5, he was charged with child molesting – the basic child molesting offense, a Level 3 felony, and two counts of child molesting – fondling or touching with a child under 14, both as Level 4 felonies.

Logan Pruitt allegedly admitted incidents of inappropriate sexual contact with a child age 14 or under had been ongoing for approximately four years and that three incidents had occurred since his eighteenth birthday in July of 2019. These incidents allegedly occurred in the home of the Pruitts.

According to probable cause affidavits prepared by Sgt. Hobbs, the alleged child victim of these incidents and another child who was a witness of at least one incident, told the officer that they had both told their mother, Kathrine Pruitt, about the situation. According to the affidavit, the mother in turn shared this information with their father, Timothy Pruitt.

When Sgt. Hobbs interviewed the Pruitts, they first denied knowing anything was going on, then when confronted with various facts, they both allegedly admitted knowing of some activity.

In the affidavit, Sgt. Hobbs said he confronted Kathrine Pruitt about one incident when she allegedly caught Logan Pruitt on top of the victim and hit him on the back.

In the affidavit, Sgt. Hobbs details the incidents and the interviews with the Pruitts.

In addition, Sgt. Hobbs wrote about asking the Pruitts about them recently taking a trip to Florida to visit family, leaving the alleged child victim and child witness to stay at home while Logan Pruitt was also staying there at the time, with no other adults staying there. This occurred after both Pruitts allegedly had been made aware of sexual contacts.

Sgt. Hobbs alleges that due to both Timothy and Kathrine Pruitt’s failure to take necessary steps to ensure the alleged victim’s safety after first learning of the situation in late April or May, the alleged victim continued to be sexually abused.

Criminal cases were filed against the Pruitts in Greene Circuit Court earlier today and warrants for their arrest were issued this afternoon, Wednesday, September 11.

In both cases, when they are in custody, their bond will be set at $10,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed.
