Convicted murderer Jesse Stephens apprehended after stand-off situation in Marco
A stand-off situation in Marco ended very early this morning with the arrest of convicted murderer Jesse Wayne Stephens.
This incident began around 6 p.m. Wednesday, January 2, when deputies from the Greene County Sheriff’s Department arrived at a residence in Marco to serve a warrant on Jesse W. Stephens, 54.
The warrant was issued on a petition to revoke probation and a suspended sentence on Stephens’ conviction of the murder of Michelle Stephens.
According to a press release issued by the sheriff’s department, Stephens barricaded himself inside the residence and GCSD contacted the Indiana State Police for assistance. After the ISP ERT team responded, Stephens was apprehended when they located him hiding in a crawl space around 12:15 a.m.
In addition to the warrant connected to the murder case, another warrant was executed at the residence.
Stephens was booked in to the Greene County Jail on preliminary charges of felony possession of methamphetamine, possession of paraphernalia and resisting law enforcement.
A second suspect, Michelle Sanders, was also located at the residence and arrested. She is facing preliminary charges of felony possession of methamphetamine and possession of paraphernalia.
