Case Update: Turner’s defense asks for bond reduction. Judge rules, motion denied.
Jared Turner appeared in Greene Superior Court this morning, Thursday, October 11, for his second initial hearing in less than a week. He was formally charged with the attempted murder of an inmate at the jail. Earlier this week, he was charged with the attempted murder of Todd Bennett.
In the first case, Turner’s bond was set at $100,000 cash only during a hearing on Tuesday, October 9. His bond in the second was set according to the standard bond schedule. In both cases, Turner is eligible for court-appointed counsel and Greene County Public Defender Alan Baughman was appointed to represent him.
On Wednesday, the day after the first initial hearing, in the first case with the $100,000 bond, the defense filed a motion requesting a reduction in the amount of Turner’s bond.
Superior Court Judge Dena Martin ruled on Thursday. Motion denied.
Turner’s bond in the first case will remain at $100,000 cash only.
